Juergen Benson-Strohmayer (b. 1990, Istanbul) is a chartered architect in Austria and Ghana whose work explores architecture’s role in social and environmental transformation. His practice spans across disciplines, geographies, and scales, exploring material innovations, typological adaptations, and climate-responsive strategies to create meaningful, context-driven spaces.

From 2023 to 2025, Benson-Strohmayer was co-founder and director of DeRoché Strohmayer, which realized the Surf Ghana Collective House, a community hub for sports and culture that received wide acclaim. The partnership was the recipient of the Holcim Gold Award for Sustainable Construction (2023) and was shortlisted for the AR Old into New Award (2023), among others.

Benson-Strohmayer was nominated for the prestigious Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative (2022) and was awarded the Tische Stipendium for Young Architects (2016). His portfolio includes Nubuke Extended, an education and arts campus in Accra with nav_s baerbel mueller; and the Fair Trade Zone, a manufacturing and eco-tourism space with Chrili Car. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale (2023), the Belvedere Museum in Vienna (2024), Shibaura House Tokyo (2023), and the Austrian Cultural Forum Rome (2022), among others.

Benson-Strohmayer has held postgraduate teaching positions at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (2017-21) and the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture (2015-16), where he led design studios and research seminars. He has also delivered guest lectures and participated in academic discussions at institutions including the African Futures Institute, Yale Center for Ecosystems and Architecture, and the University of Witwatersrand, contributing to global conversations on architecture, ecology, and urbanism.
